Thanking you all

Update 5

This is the picnic day, as usual. In the morning myself and Dr Mahabub check out from Portoroz hotel and have had started the longest journey. We first went to Blead, a lake city. The specialliatz of the lake is that it has a inside island. The students joint us there. Then we visited a Castle and went to a park, where there was an arrangement for picnic.

All of us enjoyed the day.

In the meantime, please note that Shohidull Sohan became the champion in Computer Game Tournament in the students hostel. So we have had more to celebrate.

Tomorrow will be award giving ceremony and the bonquiet.

We will start our journey day after tomorrow, Insha Allah.

Keep praying for us.

Thanks for the encouragement and the congratulations note you send.

Thanks and Regards

Update 4

Update from Portoroz, Slovenia

========================

The script marking is over for Bangladesh. We are getting two honorable mention this time. Bangladesh ends with 22 point. (Last year we scored only 3). Soumen and Sohidull perfectly solved problem 1. The most important thing is all of 4 contestant score atleast a point. I am very happy.

It is indeed a very hectic day for Dr Mahabub. We have had to coordinate all six problems in a day, which is scheduled for two day time span. However, we get some free table and availed that opportunity.

The students are fine and at this moment enjoying their excursion. This morning they visit our place, the Cox's Bazar of Slovenia, Portoroz. Soumen and Sohan jump to the ocean, and Faria/Mitu tried but not enough courageous do jump into. However, I don't want to call this ponds a "Sea" although this is the famous (??) Adriatic sea.

The students will have another excursion tomorrow and they will visit postonya cave, the longest cave in Slovenia.

So far Chaina is heading for the championship, as usual. However, this year there may be less perfect score than last year.

The weather is pretty good and we all are well, Alhamdulillah.

Thanks for all your continuous encouragement and support.

Keep praying for us.

Thank you for your patient reading!

Update 3

The exam is now over. The second day is worse than the first day. Our student all tried their best. However, they are not definite about their solution.
From tomorrow the coordination will begin at Portoso, a small city.

The deputies were check-out from the Union hotel this morning. Then we have our lunch at the place where the students are residing. It is a University hostel. The only problem is that no room has fan or ac. However, the weather is pleasant.

Then we met the students at their exam hall, which is around 2 minute walk from the hostel. We get back to hostel and then stuck up with the "Slovenian Rain". It rains for almost an hour.

With the performance and the hostel activity of our students, I am very much satified. Our students are maintaining the rules and also have developed some good friendship with the students from different countries. They are also happ, I must say. While leaving for Portosa, I asked them to talk to the family in Bangladesh.

It took around one and half hour to reach this city. Dr Mahabub has already moved to a new room and I joined him. The name of the hotel is Hotel Neptune.

I am writing this mail from the convention centre where the Jury meeting took place. Dr Mahabub has already has a first impression about our students work. However, our schedule is such that we need to wait till Saturday evening to conclude our final score.

Thank you very much for all of your encouragement!!!

Please pray for us.

Update 2

The first day of the exam is now over. As usual, there were three problems.
First one is something with a traingle having a incircle. The second one deal with a 2006-gon and third one is an unusual Inequality.

Our students attempt first and the third.

The day was very hectic for the deputies. We have had early breakfast this morning and then went to an excursion. The excursion was to visit to places-- one is a casle (GRAD) and one is a cave (JAMA).

The castle named Pedrojama Castle is one of the oldest castle of slovenia, an one hour journey from the capital. It was first built on 1000 AD. Then it has several extension work. The castle is known for the RobinHood of Slovenia, Erajom. He was killed by the hungarian soldier in that castle. Like other spot, this tourist spot is maintained very properly.

The second excursion was to a Postanya Cave, the longest cave of the slovenia. It was 25 km long. However, we covered only 5 km of it. It was really a fasinating and exciting experience. The cave is estimated 2 million years old. Mainly of limestone.

Returning from the excursion, we have had a late lunch. After some rest, I visited the Student dormitorry. They are happy with today,s performance and enjoying their tme.
Tomorrow will be the last day of exam. After that the student will have some excursion.

The deputies, including me, will leave Ljubljana at around 2.30pm tomorrow. Next tw days we will be with our leader for coordination (marking the script). It will take two days.

We all are well and in good condition.

Please pray for us.

Thanking you all.

Bangladesh in IMO 2005

Bangladesh in IMO

International Mathematical Olympiad first started in 1959 in Rumania. But it is now well adapted in many countries in the world. Eighty eight countries joined the International mathematical Olympiad in 2004. In 2005, Bangladesh will also participate in the 46th IMO in Mexico. This time, the participants have to solve 6 new mathematical problems. The winners will be awarded gold, silver and Bronze Crests.

The first step of Bangladesh mathematical Olympiad Committee was publication of "Nuron e onuronon" in bigyan projonmo page of "Prothom Alo" with the joint venture of Dr. Md. Zafar Iqbal, Dr. Md. Kaykovad and "Daily Prothom Alo". Then in 2002 math festivals were arranged in Dhaka, Narayonganj and Rajbari and in 2003 the math Olympiad was arranged in SUST. Professor Jamilur Reja Chowdhury then joined the BdMOC. In 2004 Dutch Bangla Bank Limited joined Bangladesh math Olympiad Committee. Year 2004 had a great achievement for Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad--Bangladesh got the full membership of International Math Olympiad in Greece. Bangladesh will join the 46th IMO in 2005 in Mexico. The selected winners from the 3rd BdMO will join the IMO as the representative of Bangladesh.
