Unread post by nayel » Wed Aug 28, 2013 10:16 pm

The exam questions on Days 1 and 2 will be posted here tomorrow at 8 a.m. Bangladesh time. Good luck to all in advance!

A rectangular shaped paper was folded as shown in the diagram at the bottom. What will be the area after folding? Length and width of the rectangle is $17$ and $8$.

(2)
$ABCD$ is a trapezoid with parallel sides $AB$ and $DC$. Also, $BC$ is perpendicular to $AB$ and to $DC$. The line $EF$ is parallel to $AB$ and divides the trapezoid into two regions of equal area. If $AB = 3, DC = 5$ then $EF =\sqrt a$. Find the value of $a$.

(3)
$PQRS$ is a trapezoid with $PS \parallel QR$ and $QR \perp PQ$. Also $PS = 6, PQ = 20,$ and $QR = 30$. There is a point $M$ on $SR$ such that the area of $\Delta MQR$ equals the area of quadrilateral $MQPS.$ Find the length of $MR$.

(4)
In $\Delta ABC$, $2 \angle A = 3 \angle B$. Suppose that $BC = p, AC = q, AB = r$. Determine a triangle with positive integer side lengths $p, q, r$ and positive area that satisfies $(p^2-q^2)^2 + p^3r – pq^2r = q^2r^2$.
