3 problems of probability

Unread post by amlansaha » Sat Dec 10, 2011 12:25 pm

1. if a student has passed all the 11 exams he attended before, what the probability of his passing the next exam?

2. if the student got 80%+ in his previous 11 exams, what is the probability of getting 80% marks in the next exam?

3. if the students would have passed in 10 out of 11 exams, what would be the probability of his passing the next exam?

$1.100%$
$2.100%$
$3.\frac {10}{11}$
\[\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}e^{\frac{2 \pi i k}{n}}=0\]

$1.$ the probability of passing is $\frac {11}{11}=1=100$%
$2.$ the probability of getting $80$% is $\frac {11}{11}=1=100$%
$3.$ like $1$ and $2$
\[\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}e^{\frac{2 \pi i k}{n}}=0\]

\[\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}e^{\frac{2 \pi i k}{n}}=0\]

we can't deduce what's gonna happen by probability. when we have experience about events, we can say the probability depending on the report. such as when we say someone's shooting probability is $\frac {3}{5}$ we say, if he tries $n$ times, on average he will succeed every $3$ times of $5$. we don't say that, if he tries $5$ times again he will succeed $3$. it means if he tries infinitely many times the average will remain $\frac {3}{5}$
by large number theory we can prove that, the probability of having a tail or head in a coin toss the $\frac {1}{2}$.
like that, as the problem says the probability is $1$
\[\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}e^{\frac{2 \pi i k}{n}}=0\]

tiham, your explanation is correct when the probability is not 0 or 100%. we know that 'the probability of anything'= 1- 'the probability of it's not happening' & probability $0$ means that, there is no way to make the thing happen.
now, as u found passing prob=100%=1,
probability of failing the exam=1-1=0, which is not actually true because, the student can fail by chance. do u understand what i wanna say?
